Images of Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz County is south of Silicon Valley. I visited it a lot, but took my first pictures here in November, 2009 at Natural Bridges State Park.

Cormorants
Cormorants were among the birds on the rocks.

Brown Pelicans
Brown pelicans were also in the crowd.

Long-billed Curlew
A long-billed curlew waded on the coast.

Dunlin
I think these are dunlin, but I am not very good at identifying seabirds, so I may be wrong.

The Natural Bridge
The remaining natural bridge. The fall of the other bridge allowed these sea stacks to become isolated from the coast, and a small haven for the seabirds.

Snowy Egret
An egret with its back to me.

Killdeer
Killdeer were by a tidepool.

Monarch Butterflies
These monarch butterflies were up in a tree.

Red-Shouldered Hawk
A red-shouldered hawk kept watch.
