Owl Images

Owls are notoriously difficult to see, and to photograph. They like to stay in dark places by day, and are nocturnal hunters. It is rare to get a good photograph.

Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus)

	In a Tree in the Central Valley This owl was just sitting there in a refuge in the Central Valley.
	A Pair at Klamath This pair of owls was asleep in a tree in the Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge.
	In a Nest in Arizona Near Patagonia, this owl was sleeping in this hollowed out part of a tree.
	Great Horned Owl There is a Great Horned Owl in this picture. This is how they look in camouflage.

	In the Serengeti Late in the day, this owl was getting ready to hunt.

Snowy Owl (Nyctea scandiaca)

	Immature Snowy Owl The owl was just sitting there.
	In flight In flight, he was backlit by the sun. Just beautiful.

Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia)

	Central Valley This owl was just sitting on a fencepost.
	At Coyote Point This owl was on display at Coyote Point.
	In the Sacramento Delta This owl was perched on a post in the Sacramento delta.
